Palma.—People in the Balearics watch the television for an average of 3 hours and 47 minuts a day, less than the national average of around 4 hours a day a survey by Barlovento Communications revealed yesterday.

Apart from the Balearics, Galicia is one of the regions of Spain where least television is watched on average per day (3 hours, 26 minutes). Digital Television continues to attract viewers and in September broke its popularity record, with 81.7 percent of TV audiences logging onto its channels. Compared to Digital Television, the use of which grew 7 decimal points in September, the popularity of other TV alternatives such as cable and satellite fell by 6 and 1 decimal point respectively, accounting last month for 14.1 and 4.2% of viewing options. Catalonia is the region which watches most digital TV whereas the Basque Country and Asturias make more use of cable TV.
