Palma.—Demolition which was taking place on the old “La Lubina” restaurant in the port of Palma was put on hold at the end of last month whilst permission was awaited from the Ports Authority for the disconnection of the old electricity supply and the connection of the new.

Amarres Deportivos S.L., the company carrying out the demolition work said that the disconnection and reconnection has already been authorised by Central Government's Ministry for Industry and by electricity company Endesa. It is now only the Ports Authority which needs to give the green light.

The electricity transformers in question supply power to buildings on Calle Moll in the port, amongst which are Ports Authority offices and the old restaurant.

The same sources expressed concern over the delay because it may be the case that Amarres Deportivos S.L. doesn't receive the permits until after Christmas in which case it will mean a loss of between 200'000 and 300'000 euros and the project completion date, originally scheduled for November 2013, may be put back. The new “Llubina” restaurant complex will be built with 8 million euros worth of investment to include bars, shops and offices.
