This coming Friday, civil servants will be holding an open air Christmas lunch in Plaza Cort in Palma at which each person will be bringing their own food. The move is an act of protest against cuts in government spending and the reduction of employees' salaries.

The Christmas “lunch” was announced yesterday outside Consolat de Mar government offices in Palma. Twelve people dressed as Father Christmas but in black instead of red, handed out false 500 euros notes stamped with a photo of Balearic President José Ramón Bauzá.
