Last month, the Balearics was the region which registered the highest loss of self-employed workers in the country, 3'909. The number of self-employed who stopped signing up to Social Security in the Islands last month accounted for 38 percent of the country's entire loss of self-employed workers. In November, Social Security registers show there were 77'338 self-employed in November this year, compared to 81'247 the month before. Only the Canary Islands increased its self-employed work force, by 231.

At a national level, there was a loss of 10'107 self-employed last month leaving 3'028'794 on the register; 49'574 jobs have been lost over the course of the year.
