Palma.—The Balearic government said yesterday that it will be transferring 75 workers from posts they hold in Public Administration General Services, although no job losses are forecast at this stage.

Balearic President José Ramón Bauzá and Civil Service director Nuria Riera said at a government audit presentation that around 40 people would be moved to other regional ministries and a further 35 would be reassigned within the same department.

Riera confirmed that no teaching personnel would be involved in the staff reshuffle, and that although no job losses are planned, more personnel will not be taken on in the short to medium term.

Bauzá said that his ruling Partido Popular team has been working to eliminate duplication of government posts and any inefficiencies during its one-and-a-half years in power. The audit, said Riera, forms part of the first analysis of Human Resources in Public Administration undertaken at a national level.

Bauzá said that the staff transfers are being undertaken for a better “redistribution” of personnel to improve services.
