Palma.—There should be no need to worry about any industrial problems in the airline industry over New Year or Three Kings now that easyJet ground handling staff have called off a series of flash strikes.

Go slows were planned for Palma, Barcelona, Malaga and Alicante over the coming ten days but yesterday, they were cancelled.
Here in Palma ground handling staff were due to have downed tools on December 29 and 30 and then January 5 and 6 for three hours between 1pm and 4pm.
Backdated pay
But, yesterday, despite no deal having been reached between the airline and the union over back dated pay increases, both sides did managed to agree on calling off the industrial action.

The main stumbling block is that the airline and EasyJet Handling Spain can not agree over pay rises for 2011, 2012 and 2103 and talks are set to resume early in the New Year.

Iberia has also been threatening a wave of industrial action over the festive period in protest over the loss of nearly 4'000 jobs but that dispute was also resolved.

So, all those booked to travel with easyJet on those dates can now relax, but check with the airline just to make double sure.
