Palma.—Four people were treated for the effects of smoke yesterday after a fire broke out in a fourth floor apartment in the neighbourhood of Son Espanyolet.

The fire broke out at 11.54 and, according to fire service sources, spread quickly through the apartment and to the neighbouring flat.
The apartment in which the fire began was totally gutted while the neighbours only suffered minor problems caused by the thick smoke.
Two youngsters aged 18 and 20, an 11-year-old child and an elderly woman were all taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Fortunately there were no serious injuries. A full fire investigation was launched yesterday.
