STAFF REPORTER JUST one day after having announced his departure from the ranks of the Partido Popular party, ex Balearic Minister for the Environment during the previous regional government and ex Partido Popular member of Parliament - Jaume Font - has formed a new political party.

Christened the “Liga Regionalista Balear” (Balearic Regional League), Font's personal representative lodged official papers for the new party at the head offices of the Central Government delegation in Palma yesterday.

Font claims that he has stepped down from all posts that he had held through the Partido Popular because of his failure to agree with the political direction the party is taking. He said at a recent meeting of the Council of Majorca: “I can't stay with a party whose ideas I don't go along with.”
