Palma.—The Balearic government's director general for Commerce and Business, Cesar Pacheco, said yesterday that the government intends to cut as much red tape as possible in the nautical industry so that it can expand and generate new jobs in a highly lucrative sector for the local economy.

During a meeting with the Association of Balearic Nautical Businesses, Pacheco said that the industry has massive potential for growth in the region and gave his word that the government would work “shoulder to shoulder” to help the nautical industry.

The announcement was welcomed by the nautical industry which has for years been complaining about the lack of support and help from the government.
Next step will be getting the controversial matriculation tax scrapped if the government really wants to help.
