l THE island boasts several well-established international schools who prepare their students for admission not just to Spanish universities but also to British universities. And the Balearic University also has close ties with universities in Britain. l MANY town councils organise their own nursery schools, which are much cheaper than their equivalent in Britain, and great attention is paid to nursery education. l BALEARIC leader Jaume Matas has just announced an extensive school building programme, with 41 new primary and secondary modern schools planned for Majorca between now and 2011. These will cater for the needs of the foreign population as ten percent of schoolchildren are now from immigrant families.
