THE Balearic Minister for Finance, Carles Manera, yesterday admitted that the region needs an extra 350 million euros of state funding to cover all the costs of the growing population.

The Minister said that Madrid may consider the Balearic population of just over one million small, but central government has to account for the fact the region has the fastest growing population in Spain. He said the population is growing at a rate of 30 percent.
