THE Balearic Minister for Immigration and Cooperation, Encarnacion Pastor, yesterday visited the Fira del Fang (pottery fair) in Marratxi.
She was accompanied by heads of departments from the Government and greeted the lady known as the grandmother of the Balearics, who is 107 years old. Government sources announced that the Minister was received at the fair by the Mayor of Marratxi, Jose Ramon Bauza, at 11am. Some 15 minutes later she started a tour of the fair to see the stalls. She also visited the exhibition area, where there was a demonstration of local dancing. Around 11.50am she was joined by the heads of department and 10 minutes afterwards greeted Antonia Rubi, the grandmother of the Balearics.
Antonia Rubi is a resident of Sa Cabaneta who was born in Uruguay on October 8 1899.
