Palma.The accident happened near the old barracks on the Genova road when, according to the police, the driver lost control of his family saloon, hit a parked car and then rolled over into the middle of the road.
The vehicle came to rest on its side and the driver, who was travelling alone, escaped unhurt.
Palma's rapid reaction unit were on the scene within minutes as well as an ambulance whose medical team checked over the driver at the scene. Officers however noticed a strong smell of alcohol and the driver was apparently slurring his words. Hence he was arrested once medics gave him the all clear.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and the road was closed for 40 minutes.
