PALMA
IB-Salut has said 31 percent of the medical staff that were rostered in Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera yesterday morning failed to show up because of the latest in the Medical Union's series of rolling strikes.
Of the 385 members of staff that were rostered in the Islands' hospitals, 120 failed to report for duty.
In the primary health care centres in Ibiza and Formentera, the numbers of employees observing the strike dropped from 55.32 percent on the last day of the rolling strike to 51.22 percent today.
However, there was a slight increase in participation in the Can Misses hospital since the last strike.
The health service's Director of Management and Planning, Luis Carretero, said that despite yesterday's strike it was an important day as Ib-Salut had selected a team to try and negotiate a deal with the unions.
