THE Balearic government has teamed up with Palma Town Council to pay subsidies of 140 euros per pupil for the reconditioning and re-use of school text books .

The funds will apply to students in Primary Education as of the 2009 to 2010 academic year. Palma Education Councillor, Maribel Gonzalez, confirmed that the agreement on the subsidies for text books, which was approved by a majority vote at a Municipal School Board meeting, shows how much the City Council is supporting the government's initiative to re-use teaching material wherever possible. Explaining that the measure was being introduced gradually, Gonzalez said that all years of both Infant and Primary education will finally be able to benefit from the scheme.
