MANACOR AFTER years of dispute, Manacor Town Council excavators moved in yesterday morning to bulldoze a section of the seafront of Cala Morlanda which is claimed to be private property by a local resident.

The operation ploughed down walls, trees and anything else that stood in the way of what the Council has unanimously deemed a public right of way between s'Illot and Cala Morlanda. The resident in question had allegedly been using the stretch for unauthorised building.

Within the next few days, the Council's legal department is to provide detailed information on ownership of the land which runs from the so-called “Matí” roundabout as far as Calle de la Gavina, and what rights the public have to it.
