Palma.The latest market surveys reveal that the upsurge in demand for Majorcan holidays in the United Kingdom which the Bulletin has been tracking and reporting on since Christmas is continuing.
A survey of more than 1'600 British holidaymakers conducted by leading online travel agent On the Beach, reveals Briton's favourite holiday destinations of all time, with Majorca hitting the top spot.
Spain reigns in the poll of the best loved summer holiday destinations, with the much loved Canary island of Tenerife, which has been attracting British holidaymakers from as early as the 19th Century with its year round sunshine, coming in a close second.
Neighbouring Portugal with its great value family resorts across the Algarve region took bronze.
The Canary Islands featured once again, as Britons voted Gran Canaria as the fourth favourite holiday destination. A popular destination for clubbers and sun-seekers alike, Cyprus with its huge number of five star hotels, completes the top five favourite holiday destinations.
It would appear that Britons are not only day dreaming about their favourite holiday destinations but booking breaks to the sunny shores.
Booking data at On the Beach shows Spain and the islands are more popular than ever this summer, with Majorca hitting the top spot once again, as the best selling holiday destination this summer and set to see an influx of Britons, with bookings up 25% year on year.
Other Spanish destinations expected to welcome British holidaymakers in their droves include Tenerife, Ibiza and Alicante. Croatia, has experienced the greatest year on year increase in bookings this summer, with a whopping 96% increase; suggesting that the Black Sea resorts with stunning coastlines are set to become one of the most popular holiday destinations for Brits within the next few years.
