THE leader of the Balearic Government, Jaume Matas, and the Balearic Minister of Education, Francesc Fiol, will visit Scotland on March 29 and 30 to see how the student exchange programme is progressing. This programme is promoted by the department of Education to improve students' level of English.
During the first day, the Balearic leader and the Minister will visit the Dalziel College, where they will be able to see students immersing themselves in the language in Scottish classrooms. They will be accompanied by the Regional Director of Education, Michael O'Neill, according to Government sources. The political heads will have a meeting with both the Majorcan and Scottish students who are participating in the exchange. Matas and the head of the College, Brian Miller, will visit the centre and later go to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, where they will meet the Scottish Prime Minister, Jack McConnell.
