STAFF REPORTER A woman and one of her two children suffered gashes to the head yesterday when a hanging signpost at a stall at the Easter fair in Palma became unfastened and crashed down on top of them.

The accident happened at lunchtime when the victim and her children were approaching a “chocolate and churros” stall. The signpost advertising the vendors apparently became unhinged hitting the woman and the youngest of her two children on the head. The victims were treated immediately by the Red Cross which has a permanent delegation at the fairground in Son Fuster and an ambulance was called. Although the gash on the child's head was not as serious, the woman had sustained a blow which caused serious bleeding.

Local Police were informed and officers interviewed staff at the stall who gave an explanation of how the accident had happened.
