A TELEVISION advertisement for the Balearic Islands featuring Majorcan world tennis ace, Rafa Nadal will be shown around Europe from Monday, said the regional Ministry for Tourism yesterday.
Specifically, the promotion will have slots on Eurosport channel in the United Kingdom, France and Germany with the key aim of boosting bookings in the months prior to the start of the tourist season, said the ministry.
Susanna Sciacovelli, the Managing Director of the Balearic Institute for Tourism (Ibatur) said that as of April this year, the TV marketing strategy will complement promotions using Rafa Nadal's image which have been planned by the Spanish Tourist Board in key client countries.
The advertisement featuring Nadal was shown at the World Travel Market in London in November last year and was highly praised by all sectors of the Balearic tourist industry, including by political parties in opposition.
Nadal, unlike in a previous advertisement which he filmed for the Balearics, will be promoting the individual islands of Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The TV spot has been designed to focus on the diversity of leisure activities which the islands offer to capture the maximum amount of clients.
The promotion can be also be viewed on all online commercial channels.
