THE massive weekend operation mounted by the Local Police and the Guardia Civil in Soller after two nights of vandalism and arson, two Local Police cars were torched, resulted with the arrest of one person.
According to police sources, they believe that the middle-aged male in custody is responsible for two nights of vandalism which ended in the early hours of Sunday morning when a shop front and a waste bin were set alight.
The suspect has a criminal record and, according to police sources close to the investigation, may also be suffering from mental health problems.
He apparently told the police that he was planning to set the whole of Soller on fire.
The suspect was caught after undercover police swamped the village over the weekend. Three motorcycles were also damaged by fire.
