SOLLER'S restaurants and hotels will, during the month of April, receive advice on the recycling of used vegetable oil, through PIMEM (small and medium sized businesses association) and the Soller Catering Association, according to council sources. Incorporated into the new plan for rubbish collection, started this month, Soller council has started cleaning and conditioning recycling containers for vegetable and mineral oil. The council wants to make all hotels and restaurants in the town aware of this so that they can have their own containers of organic rubbish.
To do this the recently conditioned oil recycling containers will have stickers on them with instructions for their use.
The advice clearly written on these stickers concern the best use of the bins.
It explains that only used vegetable oil should be deposited, the oil should be cool and not of an excessively high temperature, and should be filtered to avoid food particles and other items finding their way into the recycling process.
