A STUDY carried out across Spain on the level of adult learning during 2007 has revealed that four of every 10 Balearic citizens aged between 25 and 74, read no books at all for pleasure. Analysed in more depth, 39.6 percent read nothing at all; between 1 and 3 books (31.2%); between 4 and 7 (13.5%). The Balearics didn't score worst in this regard however, as more than 50 percent of people living in the region of La Mancha on the mainland, that is 5 out of 10, acknowledged not having read a single book for a whole year. In Madrid, 15.13 percent read more than 12 books a year, more than one a month.
