THE final blueprint for the Balearic science museum of the future, which could be located in Palma, will be ready by the end of the year. The regional ministry for Economy's Research and Development director, Pere Oliver, confirmed yesterday that the project is to be included in the Balearic's Science and Technology programme running from 2008 to 2012. The design is reported to be a fusion of the “classic” image of a museum with a new concept of “interactivity” between the visitor and the exhibits, encapsulated in what is to become the theme of the musuem “prohibited not to touch the exhibits.” Oliver said a working party made up of a number of museum directors from all over Spain and representatives of public and private investors with interests in the project is to meet within a few days to put its seal on the blueprint. Oliver said the museum “should be in Palma” although its final location has not yet been agreed. Meanwhile open air exhibitions in Plaza de Espanya in Palma (pictured) are forming part of the occasion of the annual Balearic Science Fair.
