TAX payers wanting to make a return to the Inland Revenue for 2010 can now ask for the forms, Central Government said yesterday, confirming that 27th June is the date by which all information must be submitted.

Banks and other financial organisations which are obliged to provide evidence of people's economic status were also making data available as of yesterday.

Once a contributor is in possession of the relevant forms to complete, the draft can be modified or completed, as preferred. A new feature this year is that the return can be made immediately if it is done by data transmission but personal presentations to branches of the Inland Revenue or by other means can't be made until 3rd May.

Those who want the drafts of their return without waiting until the Inland Revenue send a hard copy can obtain them from the Tax Office website (www.agenciatributaria.es) using a reference and a DNI or NIE number or by phoning 901-121224.

Jose Maria Mollinedo of Central Government's Tax Office said yesterday that this year is the first when 50 percent of the tax collected will be returned to the government of the region from which it was paid. Payment of tax for 2010 will also mean the first occasion on which Central Government's repeal of the so-called “Beckham Law” will take effect. This means that foreign workers with income of more than 600'000 euros who previously paid 24 percent annually in taxes will now have to pay 43 percent - the limit of income brackets for fiscal purposes.

New laws also mean that people receiving help with transport costs from their employers (on salaries of up to 1'500 euros) will no longer have that part of their wage considered as taxable.
