RITZ-CARLTON Hotels, part of the American Marriott International Group, announced yesterday that, as part of their growth strategy, they wanted to have a greater presence in Spain. They have already taken over two hotels on the Costa del Sol and are now seeking business opportunities in Madrid and Majorca. Ritz-Carlton's South Europe Area Vicepresident, Victor Clavell, explained during a press conference that the group “has to grow in Spain” and that Madrid is “very important strategically as there are good business opportunities there”. With regard to investment in Majorca, Clavell confirmed that they are studying possibilities, while on the Costa del Sol they have already taken over Hotel Villa Padierna and the Hostal del Principe, both in Malaga.
