BANYALBUFAR A 34-year-old German building site worker was in a critical condition in hospital yesterday after falling six metres whilst working on a construction project in Banyalbufar.

Oliver Ulmann was perched on a scaffolding with a workmate, restoring the roof of an old country property. Blocks of wood were straddling the bars of the scaffolding and Ulmann was bending down to enable his companion to pass building material to him. He suddenly felt unwell and turned very pale. Seconds later he tumbled over the edge. Mountain walkers passing by alterted the Guardia Civil. Emergency services arrived on the scene and confirmed the victim's state as critical with severe head injuries. He was removed by helicopter because of the urgency of the case.
