BALEARIC airports have 6'447 flights planned for Easter (from Friday April 7 to Monday April 17), of which 5'071 will be from or to Palma airport.
According to AENA (the Spanish Airports Authority), Minorca airport has 586 flights programmed for Easter, while Ibiza airport has 790.
The busiest days for Palma airport will be April 16 with 532 flights planned, followed by April 8 with 531 and April 15 with 522.
However, in Ibiza the busiest days will be April 17 with 86 flights planned, followed by April 12 with 82.
In Minorca's case, the busiest days will be April 17 with 70 flights, followed by April 13 with 64.
According to the infomation published by AENA, the number of take offs and landings are subject to possible variations due to the adjustments airlines make to their flight programmes to take account of the demand. During the Easter period airports expecting a high number of tourists will put in place special programmes to increase passenger assistance services and telephone information services. While the Spanish airport authorities are not expecting any domestic problems, continuing industrial unrest in France could affect flights.
Last week protest action by air traffic controllers in the Marseilles control tower led to over 30 flights being delayed, said the authority from the UK. Spanish and UK controllers, in co-operation with the airlines, do have a contingency plan and other flight path options but with such a high number of flights scheduled over the Easter holidays, further action by the French will disrupt air transport.
