PALMA council's councillor for Culture and Education, Rogelio Araujo, yesterday presented the cultural programme for the Easter period, in which he highlighted the traditional representation of the Stations of the Cross of Llorenc Moya on Good Friday, and three free concerts to be held on Easter Saturday and on Sunday April 23 under the direction of the Manacor composer, Rafael Nadal. Every Good Friday for the past 21 years, Palma council has organised the representation of the Stations of the Cross, through the Taula Rodona theatre group under the direction of Bernat Pujol, on the steps of Palma cathedral. Pujol added that, in case of rain, “the representation will go ahead in the church of San Felipe Neri”. Araujo said that “the Stations of the Cross of Moya is something that Majorcan society expects and year after year they come to watch the representation at the Cathedral”. This year, Angel Colomer and Ana Garcia will play the roles of Jesus and the Virgin Mary respectively.
Today, in the church of Santa Catalina Thomas, the Camp Rodo music group will give a concert, from 9pm, under the musical direction of Javier Alvaro.
Next Saturday (Easter Saturday) in the Xesc Forteza Municipal Theatre, the composer Rafael Nadal will conduct “The Passion” by the Euterpe Quartet, with work by Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Rafael Nadal and Beethoven. The Easter period cultural programme will close on Sunday April 23 with a performance by the Zetklange Ensemble, who will bring Renaissance and Baroque music to the Ses Voltes area, Araujo said.
