INCA
A 33-year-old burglar, nicknamed “The Spider”, who used to ride around on a bicycle with his ill-gotten gains in a backpack has been arrested after a six-month thieving spree around the Alcúdia area.

Antonio G.A. used a bike to avoid suspicion during his robberies, putting various items such as personal computers, DVD players and cameras in a backpack to avoid suspicious members of the Guardia Civil.

The suspect, who allegedly committed his first robbery last October, entered the houses through a window after making sure the house was empty.
He helped himself to electronic equipment, watches, mobile phones and video consoles, anything, in fact, that would fit into his backpack. After he filled his bag, he helped himself to the contents of the fridge and even on occasion had a quick nap.

The Guardia Civil in Pollensa spent months investigating the robberies before closing in on their target last Friday.
They also seized a number of objects taken during the burglaries over the last number of months, including a monitor, binoculars, radio-controlled model cars, a keyboard, a mouse, a video console, a portable computer, a discman, various wrist watches, lighters, pipes, a DVD player, a video recorder, a digital alarm clock and a gold chain with medal.

Anyone who thinks that any of these objects belongs to them should go to the Instituto Armado in Pollensa between 9am and 1pm. The Guardia Civil believe that Antonio G.A., who is known to the police since he was a youth, did not have time to sell the stolen goods.

He has since appeared before a judge in Inca and has been remanded on bail.
