NEWS DESK THE Catholic Charity Caritas is organising a special campaign in Sa Pobla this Easter which will be focusing on the underprivileged in the municipality. The aim is to make the general public aware that there are some groups of the community who have become particularly vulnerable as a result of the economic crisis. The Diocese of Majorca said yesterday that the campaign will be launched in earnest this Good Friday evening at Sa Pobla's parish church of Saint Antoni Abato, timed to coincide with important public celebrations of Christ's Passion. The Caritas project which has been authorised by the Parish authorities, is also being supported by the Easter Procession Association, “due to the clear need to provide assistance to a growing number of people at risk of being condemned to live on the edge of society,” the organisation said in a statement yesterday. After representations of the Crucifixion on Mount Calvary have come to a close, a spokesman for Caritas will speak on the nature of those who need help and will ask for volunteers to come forward to assist the vulnerable.
