Palma.—The suspect was arrested late on Wednesday night in connection with the brutal attack on Catalina Frontera Hidalgo on the rural estate at which she worked on the outskirts of Bunyola.

The 52-year-old had suffered multiple stab wounds and also a fierce blow to the head and was found in a pool of blood in a room near to the kitchen.
The property is owned by a German couple, although apparently seldom used, and she was a member of the domestic staff .
She was found earlier on Wednesday morning by an electrician who alerted the emergency services but she died at the scene before paramedics could reach her.

The man who was arrested and was being questioned last night was apparently a former employee at the estate and yesterday investigators ruled out that the cause of the attack was a domestic issue.

One of the lines of investigation is robbery but police were keeping an open mind yesterday as they continued with their inquiries.
Not only were the people of Bunyola shocked, so too were residents in Santa Maria where the victim lived. “I am in complete shock. Catalina never bothered any one. If she was not working, she was looking after her elderly father,” one of her friends said. The Frontera family is very well known in Santa Maria and some people said that it was apparently Catalina's fault that the suspect was sacked because she reported his strange behaviour to the owners and he wanted revenge.

Apparently, since the suspect was made redundant she had received a number of threats.
The case continues.
