Palma.—The Balearic Chief Prosecutor, Bartomeu Barcelo, yesterday denied that any pressure has been applied on any of the judges or prosecutors regarding Princess Cristina being summoned to be questioned in a Palma court about her husband's business affairs.

The Duke of Palma, Iñaki Urdangarin, has been quizzed in Palma twice regarding the alleged embezzlement of public funds, some of which came from the Balearic government, and his wife, the Princess, was issued with a summons to appear in court on April 27.

But, in a surprise move, the anti-corruption prosecutor, Pedro Horrach, lodged an appeal against the summons and that is now being considered by the Balearic High Court.

But, in the meantime the April 27 questioning has been postponed pending what the Balearic High Court rules on the appeal and Barcelo stressed that no body is under any pressure from any one and that the process will take its course just like any other.

Urdangarin is also waiting to see if his passport is going to be seized in the wake of news that he has been offered a job in Qatar promoting handball.

The private prosecution want his passport blocked so that the Duke of Palma cannot move overseas in the middle of the investigation which has rocked the Spanish royal family.
