Palma.—The 45-year-old suspect from Inca, who was arrested late on Wednesday night, apparently attacked the victim with a Japanese fighting sword but it was a blow to the head which proved fatal, according to the results of autopsy.

And yesterday, while friends and family in Santa Maria and Bunyola prepared for the funeral, teams of Guardia Civil divers were combing the sea bed bear the “bridge of the English” in Alcudia in search of the murder weapon.

Yesterday morning the judge handling the case, gave permission for the suspect, identified as Andres R.C. to accompany members of the Guardia Civil to the scene where he claims he threw the weapon into the sea in the Port of Alcudia.

He had told police hours earlier during being questioned about ditching the sword in the sea and yesterday afternoon, the search continued as the suspect, handcuffed, tried to guide divers to the exact spot from the rocks but the sea bed is very sandy and the currents strong.

He had also told the police that the two had worked together but Catalina had apparently complained about his erratic behaviour to the German owners of the country estate.

This led to him being fired and apparently, as police have since learnt from questioning friends and family of the victim, the suspect never got over being fired and vowed revenge, as the Bulletin reported yesterday.

Yesterday evening, he was returned to police cells after the weapon was not found, and today he will appear before a Palma court which will decide whether to charge him and then if he will be held on remand or bailed until the hearing.
