TWO BRITONS KILLED IN TWO DAYS IN MAJORCA

By Humphrey Carter MAJORCA'S roads have claimed the lives of two Britons in just two days. Early yesterday afternoon a British man was killed and a British woman injured in an accident on the outskirts of Petra. According to the 061 emergency services, the accident happened just after 2pm when the driver apparently lost control of the white Pontiac in which they were travelling, along a straight stretch of road in the direction of Manacor. The car went off the road and collided with a large boulder. The cause of the accident remained unclear yesterday but the emergency services reported that the 70-year-old male passenger, identified as William G. died at the scene, despite intervention by para-medics, either as a result of his serious injuries or a possible heart attack. The woman driver, Margaret G., escaped with minor injuries and was taken to hospital in Manacor for treatment. On Monday, a 17-year-old Briton identified by the Guardia Civil as Kaura Amritpal died in an accident along the LLucmajor motorway, near the Ses Cadenes junction. The teenage Briton was riding a moped and it appears that he was involved in a collision with a Citroen C3 as he joined the motorway. The driver of the Citroen suffered minor injuries. Paramedics battled to save the Briton's life at the scene but there was nothing they could have done to save the 17-year-old's life. In Andratx yesterday another Briton was slightly injured in a second motorcycle accident in two days.
