YESTERDAY'S fatal accident took the death toll on Balearic roads for this year to 18, 26 percent less than during the first quarter of last year.
The Traffic Police department reported yesterday that nearly half of the victims this year have been foreigners and that five of those killed have been aged under 30 - sharp reduction on last year. March has been the most tragic month so far with seven lives lost.
Six people died on the Balearic roads in January, three in February and two lives have been lost so far this month.
Of the 18 victims, 10 were driving the vehicles involved, three were passengers (including yesterday), three have been pedestrians, one a cyclist and one a motorcyclist. What is more, 15 of the victims were male and eight were foreigners.
