THE hidden extras charged by the UK's low cost airlines is a consumer issue the leader of the Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg, has vowed to crackdown on.
During election campaigning over the weekend, Glegg said in Cardiff that giving consumers a better deal is a key part of his party's manifesto and it is not only targeted at the low cost airlines, but the hidden fees charged by banks as well.
However, any reduction or crackdown on the hidden extras charged by the no frills airlines will be welcomed by travellers, especially frequent fliers such as business people or owners of holiday homes in destinations such as here in the Balearics. The airline industry, however, is keen to hear how the Lib Dems will go about tackling the issue.
