Palma.—The U.S. based Serra Community, which describes itself as the “global law apostolate for vocations in the Catholic Church, “ will be holding their annual convention in Palma this summer and John Woodward, who leads the organisation, is in Palma at the moment to finalise all the details.

Many of their 18'000 worldwide members are set to attend the event and the theme of the convention this year is “for woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel – the spiritual journey of Fray Junipero Serra.” Fray Junipero Serra is the pioneering Majorcan monk who founded a series of missions in California. Today, John Woodward will visit Petra which is the home town of Serra and where there is a museum dedicated to his life and work.

Serra's convention headquarters in Palma will be the Hotel Melia Palas Atenea.
The event will commence with the Opening Mass in the Cathedral on Thursday 20 June 2013. Visits to numerous spiritual sites on the island, including Petra, have been organised. Yesterday, John Woodward, visited the Cathedral for talks with representatives of the local Catholic Church.
