PALMA
THIS Friday, an exhibition of oils and watercolours by the Majorcan resident Lynette McDonland opens at La Caixa Exhibition Centre in Pollensa.
Lynette is originally from New Zealand and educated in Wellington but first came to Europe in the sixties and during that spell paid her first visit to Majorca.

And, like so many artists from all over the world she fell in love with the island and moved here and has been painting in Majorca for over 23 years and held a number of exhibitions during that time.

Her work comprises oils and watercolors, both of which demonstrate her ability to capture the Mediterranean light and the way it affects the colours of her landscapes.

Her oil paintings, very different in style and treatment from the watercolours, reveal warmth and softness that create an almost storybook character.
Her latest exhibition which opens this week in Pollensa covers a wide variety of Majorcan subject matters including landscapes and populated scenes.
Initially, Lynette painted as a hobby but as she eventually found herself with fewer and fewer family commitments, she was able to devote more time to her passion and has enjoyed great success over the years. The exhibition opens at 8pm on Friday and runs until April 26.
