Staff reporter THE expanded Port Adriano is starting to take shape as the project gathers momentum. This week the first 25-metre concrete block for the new breakwater was floated into place. The giant block was shipped in from Castellon and was the “foundation” stone of the new 526 metre-long quay which is being added to the marina in El Toro, Calvia. The controversial project continues to be criticised by the anti-marina expansion organisation SOS Can Vairet which is provided daily updates on the project on its web site. A number of complaints from neighbours in the area have also been lodged about the noise being made by the construction project which is being carried out seven-days a week and even at night. Phase one of the expansion project should be completed by the end of this Spring, according to the construction company, with all of the new pontoons in place.

However, work is expected to continue into next year but, once completed, the enlarged Port Adriano will be able to provided moorings for 80 more yachts.
