Palma.—The package holiday, which once formed the corner stone of the Balearic tourist industry is in rapid decline as more and more tourists organise their own holidays, according to the Balearic tourist industry.

Infact some tourism experts believe that it is only a matter of time until it disappears completely, especially on short haul holidays.
The package holiday was hugely successful in Majorca in the 1970s and 1980s. However, the growth of the internet and online travel companies could mean that the present package holiday will soon be history.
