PALMA
EuroFashion Bijoux, the company specifically created to market jewellery and accessories manufactured in Europe, signed an agreement with Chinese government delegates yesterday which will allow the opening of retail outlets in China.

The negotiations for the agreement have been taking place over the last few days in Palma, coinciding with the EuroBijoux&Mibi Fair being held in the city. Manufacturers in Minorca are amongst those who will be able to commercialise their products under the new label.

One source at the negotiations said that as well as the expansion in China, it was also agreed that Italy should be the key liaison point for EuroFashion Bijoux within the European Union and that manufacturers will be able to promote their wares in large department stores there.

One of the main aims of the company directors is that the first shops marketing the “butterfly” jewellery and accessories brand in China and Italy should be up and running this year. Pre-launch events, said the same source, will include the setting up of showrooms providing the public with a glimpse of what EuroFashion Bijoux has in store. The directors are also planning to commercialise goods direct with both China and Italy on the internet.

Another major trade strategy emerging from the recent meetings is to give a wider international platform to furniture which is manufactured in Europe.
