PALMA
THE former Mayor of Palma and head of the PP in the Palma Council, Catalina Cirer, will propose the creation of a commission of investigation into the outdoors cremation of human remains and the remnants of coffins in the municipal cemetery.

Cirer said the commission would not interfere with the investigation being undertaken by the prosecutor but would help clear up whether or not bones were cremated outdoors in the cemetery in contravention of the regulations. The PP leader called for the council's health department to intervene to explain that the previous PP-led administration had received instructions from the autonomous Government not to burn remains in the incinerator at Son Reus. Instead the council believed that these cremations should take place at the crematorium at Son Valentí.

Cirer added that it was important that the council's health department guaranteed the safety of workers involved in carrying out cremations.
