Palma.—Over the past three days, 13 cruise ships have called into the Port of Palma, three on inaugural visits to the capital.
And, the port has handled nearly 20'000 cruise passengers since the beginning of the week.
The big difference this year appears to be the new cruise quay which welcomed its first cruise ship on April 18 when the giant of the seas, the Adonia moored alongside.

Yesterday, two classic clippers, the Sea Cloud and the Star Clipper shared the new quay while three other cruise ships moored up in the port.
And one of those was the super trans Atlantic liner Eurodam, which was launched by Queen Beatriz in 2008 and was making her first visit to the island.

She was joined by the Holland American Line's Ryndam and the Italian cruise ship, Costa Favolosa.
Today, the port is going to host another new comer, the 140'000 ton, 333 metre MSC Preziosa which was only launched in March as well as the Costa Serena and the Thomson Majesty. The start to this year's cruise season in Majorca has bucked all the trends.

Already this year, the port had handled double the amount of liners and passengers as it did during the same period last year and with industry rumours that the cruise sector would struggle this year, the Port of Palma appears to be sailing through the market concern nice and smoothly.
