IB-Salut Balearic health service doctors and medical personnel continued their industrial action yesterday.
For the third consecutive day, a large number of operations were suspended and appointments with specialists cancelled.
A total of 94 operations, nearly 60 percent of those scheduled to have taken place yesterday, were postponed. Since Monday, a total of 267 patients have had their operations put on hold because of the dispute over improved pay conditions. A total of 5'444 specialist consultations have also been postponed since this latest wave of strike action was launched.

IB-Salut director general Josep Pomar claimed yesterday that the number of medical personnel backing the strike fell to just 21 percent yesterday. The unions claim participation was as high as 70 percent. IB-Salut hopes that all postponed operations with have taken place within the next three weeks.
