Palma.—A British couple robbed of over 50'000 euros worth of valuable items when two criminals broke into their holiday home in s'Arraco, Andratx last weekend, yesterday issued a warning to fellow holiday home owners to keep their eyes open and install adequate security systems.

Dennis Clark and his wife were out having lunch in a nearby village between 2pm and 4pm when the incident took place.
The neighbours heard some unusual noises and reported the incident to the police but by the time they arrived at the crime scene it was too late.
Clark, originally from Norfolk, confirmed that amongst the missing items was his Iphone, Ipad, his wife's engagement ring, which she has had for many years, and jewelry worth thousands of euros. “It's a major major theft. They forced their way in and stole a lot of items. My wife is distraught. We lost some very precious jewels. It's a personal disaster.” Witnesses have confirmed that there were at least two people involved and that they used a black car to get around the neighbourhood.
The suspects were seen around the area all week but when confronted by one of the local residents, they defended themselves by claiming they were “just selling security cameras.” “We want people to know what is happening and that's why we decided to go public. Lock up your houses or find a way to protect yourselves. These people are looking to strike in the area and possibly cause something unpleasant,” Clark said.

These sorts of crimes have been an ongoing struggle for the Guardia Civil who every year have to deal with several complaints, especially during the summer season. Gangs are being described as highly organised and some are suspected of being made up of former members of Eastern European special forces due to some of the materials used to carry out the break ins and the surveillance operations carried out.

Regarding his situation Clark admitted that the hardest part is deciding on what the future holds for the couple in Majorca. “I'm not sure what the Guardia Civil is doing but they have not been in touch and they haven't caught the burglars as far I know. Right now we are in limbo and it's an uncomfortable place to be. For now we just want others to know what is happening and we are considering offering a reward for any kind of information or even for the return of the stolen goods.” A detachment of 20 Guardia Civil officers specialised in combating organised crime has already been deployed to Majorca from Valencia.
They will be on the island for a period of three weeks.
