BANKS and savings banks in the Balearics have over the past year been giving preference to putting cash dispensers in the street, rather than inside the bank itself. Sources said that this was part of a policy to free more space for personal service to customers.
The sources say that the banks have received many complaints by users because tramps often use the area of the indoor cash machines to spend the night. The Sa Nostra savings bank has a network of 260 branches and 336 cash dispensers in the Balearics, and it acquires 50 new ones a year. These are to replace old ones and to place new ones outside the new branches (it opened 15 branches last year alone).
