YESTERDAY various sailings between the Balearic islands had to be cancelled due to the north easterly winds which were lashing the Balearics with strong gusts at times. According to the Balearic Port Authority, Acciona Trasmediterranea cancelled the sailing of their ship “Almudaina” from Palma to Valencia, which had been scheduled for 8am. This same company also had to cancel the sailing of the “Millenium” from Palma to Barcelona, which had been scheduled to leave at 10am.
The shipping company Balearia, was forced to divert their ship “Ramon Llull” to Mahon. It had sailed at 8am from the port of Alcudia bound for Cuidadela and then Barcelona. Balearia also cancelled their first few scheduled sailings of the morning from Ibiza to La Savina in Formentera. Their ships “Arlequin Rojo” and “Nixe” were due to sail these routes. However the route which the “Nixe” was due to take was taken over by the “Formentera Jet”.
