PROYECTO Hombre (the drug rehabilitation foundation) is treating 67 women for drug addiction in the Balearics, which is triple the number of 15 years ago according to their spokesperson, Lino Salas. He added that, in fact, women represent 15 percent of the 450 people who are receiving treatment for addiction by this organisation.
Salas said that 7 percent of the people treated by them for heroin addiction are women, while of the people treated for addiction to cocaine and alcohol 20 percent are women. He also said that 20 percent of young people under 18 years of age who were receiving treatment for addiction were women.
