Antich under pressure to cut staff and spending

STAFF REPORTER BALEARIC President Francesc Antich yesterday came under renewed pressure from the opposition centre right Partido Popular to slim down his administration in order to reduce expenditure and save public funding.

Balearic opposition leader, Rosa Estaras, has challenged Antich on numerous occasions to take effective credit-crunch busting action and slim line the government to save money. The government's got too many administrative layers of fat, she said yesterday during the meeting of the Partido Popular National Executive in Madrid.
